Bust of Holy Achiropita
Description
The work , in full relief silver , was made in 1768 by Costanzo Mellino, a silversmith from Naples . It was commissioned by Michele Romano and Domenico Rogani , to remember the danger avoided from the general famine. At the bottom , on the base of the bust, the town of Rossano is portrayed. The statue is placed in the cathedral for all the month of August and is carried in procession on the 14th and the 15th of the same month .
